"Our Mission"

To improve the structure of daily living among parenting teens and young adults. Our ultimate mission is to empower by developing assets of healthy living, healthy families, and avoiding subsequent teen pregnancies. In an effort to do so FOL provides in-home visitation and group sessions for participants through Foundations Maternity and Foundations Independence.

Independance

"Life" Through the Eyes of a Teen Mom

At the age of 15 this teen mother became pregnant with her first son, what was supposed to feel like a joyous occasion and very exciting became a very scary and unsure one. So when it happened again before her little one had his first birthday, she was devastated. "I just didn't understand how I could have messed up again!"

At 18 years old this teen mom is balancing being a mother of two boys, learning to live independently, being a student, and understanding life. "Sometimes it's just hard to do everything by myself."

Through Foundations of Life she has received empowerment to start her first year of college, how to file for financial aid including scholarships, and parenting education. "I can't wait for the sessions to begin" (Parenting Sessions). We salute this teen mom!

Maternity

Foundations Maternity

Is designed to provide intensive family-centered services to the entire family, the teen mother (age 13-19) being the nucleus of the program. Our program promotes positive parent and child interaction by supporting, strengthening and reinforcing teen parents with child development and child management information. In an effort to reduce family isolation with the teen father case management and group meetings are conducted with the teen mother, baby, her parent (or support person) and the father of the baby. Group meetings and case management reflect independent living, employment, education, child development and family dynamic skills.

Foundations of Life empowers young adults and teen parents throughout the City of Racine by providing in-home visitation and community based intervention and programming. The impact of our efforts are actualizing throughout their lives everyday.

Your support of these efforts helps Build for Change in their lives. You are greatly needed and appreciated for all you do.

Foundations of Life is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit social services agency according to the Internal Revenue Services code of charities and non profits.
